April Club Meeting

April 25 @ 6:00 pm 9:00 pm

For the April meeting, we’ll be heading north again to Angelo’s of Bellevue, just south of Highway 520 on 130th NE. Unfortunately, Ed can’t make it, so we’ll have to ask him, “WTF (What’s that fish) Ed?” some other time.

Fortunately Randy Williams from The Washington SCUBA Alliance will be on hand to tell us about their mission and the work they’ve been doing recently to enhance diving in the Northwest, such as the Point Hudson Breakwater dive site in Port Townsend.

Randy Williams, vice president of Washington Scuba Alliance, said a Critter Relocation diver came across two sunflower sea stars, a major predator that NOAA has proposed for Endangered Species Act protections. On his dives, Williams found two active but empty octopus dens and just above them an active den in the new breakwater that had been established within the last year.
“They’ve moved on its own and they’re doing quite well,” Williams said. “If we’ve got enough food to support more than one octopus, then that’s a good thing.”

As always, everybody is welcome to attend our meetings. Dinner starts at 6 PM, with the program starting at 7-ish PM.
