On Thursday, 9/19, three SeaHorses, Joe Sharp, Dave Wakeley and Joyce Hoffmann took a dip in Cove 2. It was a beautiful day, and we were diving right before high tide, so it was a short walk down the slope to the water, but a long swim out to buoy #3, where we descended.
There is a line fixed at the bottom of the anchor line for buoy #3 that leads you to the Honey Bear and pilings, and we followed it, but somehow became navigationally challenged and overshot, nearly ending up in Cove 1. Along the way we saw the usual denizens of Cove 2, rockfish, big crabs, nudibranchs, Dave saw a shy tentacle of a GPO in the rock pile, that quickly withdrew. It was a fun little dive, and a nice way to get back in the water.
We exited at high tide, so we could swim almost all the way to the stairs. And we were greeted with one of the spectacular sunsets that Cove 2 is known for.
Come Out and Join in the Fun
The next event on the calendar is the Crawdad Dive in Lake Washington on Saturday, 9/28 at 10 AM, there will also be non-crawdad food for those not partial to the mini-lobsters. And of course the Photo Contest is coming up on October 24th, at Billy McHale’s in Federal Way.
Hope to see you there!
