Dive report for the two dives at Redondo on 1/10/24 with Pieter Booth. It was a break between storms, the water was very calm and the sun was shining when we arrived. The first dive was along the rope trail to the north. Lots to see in the 30-foot vis. Some very large schools of shiner perch and tubesnouts. We found a bay pipefish, wolf-eel, numerous sculpins and a couple of speckled sanddabs among other interesting critters. During the surface interval it rained on us – but quit just before we got back in. After dark, we did the deeper dive, to the carousel boat, Black Pearl and back to the shallow boat loop. That dive often has poachers somewhere along the route – but none this time. We did find a a stubby squid, a couple bay pipefish and a grunt sculpin. Water temp was 52 at depth and 50 at the surface. In the last 10 mintes of the dive we experienced the “Redondo River”. That is a very short-lived current and it didn’t last long. You can see photos on the FB page.
