It’s that time to find another COTM (critter of the month). Last month we were looking for Plumose anemones, and 2 people said they saw some. This month the COTM is the Painted greenling. This fish is part of the greenling family, which includes lingcod and kelp greenlings. They have red to red-brown bars on their sides. If you see one that has turned dark, that is a male in courtship colors. These fish tend to sit on the bottom rather than float up in the water column.
