Dive Report: Flagpole and Elephant Wall, Hood Canal with YSS Dive Charter

Dave Wakeley, Dave Delgado, Chris McKenna, Ed Gullekson, and Pieter Booth dove off Miss Gig, YSS’ 38′ aluminum boat. Two excellent dives with everyone except Ed and Pieter seeing GPOs out in the open on both dives. In addition to the ubiquitous wolf-eels (hyphen included!) at both sites, we saw 6 species of rockfish (yellowtail, Puget Sound, quillback, copper, black, and brown), three (or 4) species of perch, blackeye goby everywhere, ling cod, and a red brotula among others. Visibility was 30-40 below about 20 feet and water temp at depth was 50 degrees and 55-58 at the surface (hood Canal usually develops a strong thermocline in the summer).
